🦋 Let's paint some colors into your online business!

Color psychology, emotions, and attention.

Hey — It's Pankaj, your fellow eCommerce fan.

This is the 4th edition of The Checkout Experience!

I hope you had an incredible weekend and are ready to embark on a colorful journey this week.

Speaking of colors, did you know that they can influence your customers’ decisions?

In today's newsletter, let’s paint 🎨 some colors into your online business.

Reading time — 1 minute.

A study by the University of Loyola, Maryland found that color increases brand recognition by up to 80%.

Colors are more than mere aesthetics.

They can evoke emotions, influence decisions, and drive sales.

3 actionable tips for using colors on your website

1 — Use colors that resonate with your target audience.

Different colors evoke different emotions.

What do you want your customers to feel when they see your brand?

Take these colors for instance —

  1. Blue evokes a sense of trust

  2. Red creates a feeling of urgency & excitement.

  3. Green creates a feeling of balance, harmony, and health.

  4. Orange is a color that radiates energy and enthusiasm.

2 — To make your products pop, use complementary colors in your product images.

They are colors that sit opposite each other on the color wheel.

And create a strong contrast when placed together.

Example — Red and green, blue and orange, or purple and yellow.

3 — Guide your customers’ attention using colors.

Want to immediately draw your customer’s attention to your “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” button?

Use a color that stands out from the rest of your design.

2 marketing strategies that use colors

1 — Color-themed campaigns.

Imagine you’re running a summer promotion. 🍸

You can add bright and energetic colors like yellow and orange to your Ad creatives to create a sense of excitement and enthusiasm.

2 — Color overlays in imagery.

A color overlay is like a transparent layer of color on top of your images that changes their mood or evoke certain emotions.

It's like wearing tinted sunglasses that give everything a different vibe. 😎

But.

Don’t use them in product images on the website, as they may change the color of the product.

Colors are the smiles of nature.

This simple but meaningful quote tells us that colors are nature’s way of expressing joy, vibrance, and diversity.
